Description

Exporting Microsoft Project data to a Jira project is based on custom add-on development. This integration project was about data migration from one system to another. Our custom-developed app parses MPP files to transfer project data between Microsoft Project and Jira. The file contains a timeline, a list of tasks, budgets, resources assigned to tasks, and other project information. 

Goal

Migrate all project data from MS Projects to Jira. Import tasks including their durations, dependencies, and responsible parties (assignees).

Solution

We created an app that parses an MPP file, which is deployed in Jira and creates issues with the same data (tasks, dependencies between tasks, assignees, etc.).  Our app interacts with the Jira structure (e.g. folder tree), automatically groups, and creates a large number of nesting levels.
